Right after we got back from Florida it was time to dig being 3!!! This was the second year in a row that Auggies birthday coincided with a snow storm. This time we didn't have to move his party, but it did mean him and Mom had a snow day! We celebrated with a big snow 3, bagels for breakfast, mac and cheese for lunch and cheeseburgers for dinner. The weekend brought his construction themed party. As usual mom and dad has as much fun putting it all together as he did at the party. A definite highlight was 'wooden' boards the kids all got to nail into with golf tee's. It was so much fun having everyone over to celebrate.

We spent a week down in Bonita Springs visiting Chris's folks for spring break. The weather was nearly perfect and we were in the pool at least once a day. Auggie was cautious at first, but by the end he was jumping in the water with Mom and Dad. We had a private movie screening of Up, and a great visit from Bill and Jenny. There's been something every weekend for the past couple of months. Whether it be play dates with our parents group or one of Auggies best friends at school Oliver, a visit from Frankie, a St. Patrick's day feast, a visit from Aidan and Izzy, or the early birth of Zoe, life has kept us on our toes. We threw Zoe a baby sprinkle and it was wonderful getting to meet her. The highlight of Spring has been Elyse receiving the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce shinning star award along with 10 other teachers. At the award ceremony we learned that she was named the TEACHER OF THE YEAR! It was a huge surprise but couldn't go to anyone more deserving - Auggie and I are so proud of her! We've done our best to keep occupied since the new year. Auggie had a pretty bad sleep regression that he's finally coming out of. We found that weekend day trips allowed for a nap in the car that we wouldn't get at home. That had us going to Green Bay, Ripon and many loops around highway 441. We had a great visit with Deutsch, Tiff, BK, Kat, JP, Theresa and Hannah - Auggie had a fun time at Mark and Marcie's. The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas flew by! We had a quick Christmas with Leta and John before they flew off to California. Auggie had a fun xmas cookie decorating day with his friends. Tammy hosted us, Aidan and Izzy at her new house. We explored a local light show and saw the grinch in Neenah! Christmas proper was celebrated down at Al and Karen's. The house was full to the brim with family. We decorated gingerbread houses, ate some fantastic chicken wings, and enjoyed being cozy at home. Auggie had the Christmas spirit and was very into the Polar Express, singing Christmas songs, and the movie Frozen. Wowzah! What a year. You can go back through all the posts for more specifics but here is a recap in photo's of our 2023. Highlights include travel to Florida, Spain and North Carolina by the whole family. Elyse had trips to Porto Rico, Scotland, England and Sonoma. We enjoyed making new friends and strengthening old ones. Playdates were a must with a 2 year old and Auggies best friends of Asher, Evie and Mari ensured not a moment went by without fun, tears and learning. We can't wait for 2024! Thanksgiving was spent down in North Carolina. We drove and Auggie did well both there and back. It was an awesome visit; we got to meet Runa, and Mads and Baret were so good with Auggie. We mostly stayed on the farm, said hi to some donkeys and let the boys play. It's such a fun place to go with Auggie. We've had our Christmas day where we put up all our decorations and make cookies. It was nice enough to snow the following day so it really put us in the xmas spirit. Tammy officially moved up to Appleton; it's been great having her around. Time gets faster and faster and the end of the year approaches. Jeff and Egon were traveling through town so we were lucky to spend some time with them. We had a snow filled Halloween - luckily Elyse brought the heat and Auggie and I were there to control the burn. We continued our tradition of trick or treating with Asher, Evie and Mari, followed by a much appreciated pizza part. I escaped for a few days and finally got to see Ben down in Philly. We had an awesome time drinking and eating the town. We were lucky to be joined by Cameron for a day! Such a fun reunion. Elyse and I got to go to a Packers game with Gus; I finally saw my new season tickets. Pack played a helluva game against the chargers. It's been a busy fall season going to orchards, farms and the occasional Octoberfest. Everyone is back into the school season swing of things. We had a fun little photo session with our favorite photographer Audre Rae. While it was a scorching 90 degrees we tried to pull off the Fall vibe. We're trying to do these every couple of years, because as every parent will tell you, it goes by fast. We went out to Plymouth for Liam's Oak Fest and had a great time catching up with old friends, listening to good music and exploring the farm. Auggie still can't stop talking about the tractor - more fall visits are on the agenda. We had a fun visit with Katie and Jim; Frankie is getting so big, it was fun seeing her and Auggie interact. We rented a house in Ellison Bay with the other families and had a fun weekend exploring the peninsula and letting the kids go wild. It's crazy that the Summer is already over, but we've jammed in about as much as we can. I think all 3 of us are looking forward to cooler temperatures and a consistent schedule in the coming weeks. Walked in the children's parade again this year, although our costumes were low effort compared to last year. We were then off to Grand Rapids to visit the AH crew. It was a whirlwind couple of days but it felt so good seeing everyone, and Auggie had a blast playing with Harrison and Andie. An 11 hour car ride later and we had picked up Justine and were in Moose Lake. Considering all the travel this Summer Auggie has done great. We had a fun week swimming, boating, running up to Duluth and enjoying lake life. Sarah and Matt came up for the last weekend as well - Liam is getting so big. The highlight was going out to Dreamland Supper Club to celebrate John's birthday. Surprisingly good food, and an amazing atmosphere! Big news of the last week was all the babies that were born!!!! From Matthew and Taylor we welcomed Runa, Katie and Eric brough us Henry, and a BIG congratulations to Jacob and Bayeshan who welcomed Roselle into the world. Can't wait to meet you all. |
