We got home from California, celebrated Fathers Day (Elyse killed it with the matching Hawaiian shirts), and then a couple days latter drove over to Michigan for Friendscation. We rented a couple of houses near Lake Michigan with a bunch of Chris's high school friends. We were in the kids house with Dana and Danny and their two little ones. The trip felt like a vacation at times. We'd wake up early, eat breakfast and then spend the morning at the beach. Auggie loved playing in the sand and apprehensively wadding into the water. Nighttime was adult time, and it was so good catching up with everyone, playing board games, and staying up later than we had in years. Almost as soon as school was out we were on a plane for California. The first three days of our trip was spent with Pat and Alexis in Oakland. We had a great time walking in the redwoods, going to an animal farm and getting a feel for their neighborhoods. From there we drove out to Lake Tahoe for a week with Chris's family, Tammi, Patxi, Aidan and Dylan. Tahoe is an unbelievably pretty area - sadly it was cold for many of our days so lake swimming was not an option. Every day we'd go down to the beach and take little hikes around the area. It was wonderful catching up with the whole family. Covid had really kept us apart which made this trip all the more special. The end of the school year is always hectic, even more so with a 1 year old. We were able to fit in a visit down to Chris's folks house, and a little getaway to Milwaukee complete with a visit from Elaine and Dan. Grandpa Mark provided endless summer fun in the form of a water table. Asher and Auggie have already had fun playing in it. Dewy is officially a decade old! She's been such a good girl for Auggie; we're glad she's his first dog.
